Funny scene

One of my fav romance/action movies: The Mask of Zorro... classic Spanish myth/legend. Catherine Zeta Jones + Antonio Banderas = funny sexual tension... heheh! This scene is their playful duel when Elena catches Zorro thieving around in her hacienda... damn hilarious ^^ watching the movie puts me in a gd mood

Bukit Panjang Plaza

Midnite madness!!!! Seriously seriously madness... yesterday night met Bao-bei at BP Plaza... never ever ever saw so many people in such a small shopping centre before... found out why when i saw the brochure for midnight madness... the entire place was having a freaking sale from 8pm-12am... the whole place was thronging with aunties... and many of them were pushing trolleys... including YT's mum who was shopping in NTUC.

Here's some of the crazy things going on.
  • Exchange coupon for 3 collagen eye masks free at GLO hair and beauty shop. Buy $88 worth of collagen eye product for $8. Korean nail polish $1 each. Hair treatment product: $5. Face masks: buy 1 get 1 free
  • Body Shop selected items up to 40% off. Body butter U.P. $29.90 = $16.90
  • O2Skin all products either Buy 1 get 1 free or selling for totally cheap price. E.g. eyeshadows & lipgloss for $2.90(U.P. $15.90)... $18.90 mascaras going for $4.90... soaps and shampoos going for $3.90
  • Watsons & Guardians having 20% sales
  • Tinkertoes all shoes $16.90
  • I.P Zone shirts going for $9.90
  • Buy a carton of coca cola (24 cans) for 10 cents with a receipt of $30. Limited to 1st 400 ppl.
  • With $100 receipt, redeem $10 vouchers/ Harvey Norman rice cooker/ 10kg rice for $1.
  • M1 $30 coupon for every 2 yr contract signed.
  • Eu Yan Sang 20% sales
  • Fu Hua Tonics $10/bottle bird's nest. Limited to 1st 120.

All this resulted in: long queues leading all the way OUT of the shopping centre and around the building... crazy aunties queueing everywhere... shops supercrowded... women buying EVERY color of eyeshadow at O2Skin... me, bao-bei, YT and her mum taking shifts looking after the shopping trolley...lol... super loud talking from the speakers throughout the shopping centre... us buying so much stuff we didn't hv time to go to the 3rd floor to shop. Having to catch the last few buses home.

Got: $2.90 dark bluish eyeshadow, $2.90 lip gloss, $5.90 hair treatment, 3 free collagen eye mask, $16.90 papaya body butter from Body Shop

Wow... recently my table has become quite clogged up with beauty products... lol... in addition to the stuff i got yesterday... i recently also got free sample of face products from Dermafloral (6 small bottles of stinky herbal liquids lol), Anna Sui big bottle of Oil Cleanser (yoke choo didn't use it anymore and didn't want her sister to have the satisfaction of having it so she gave it to me), fuschia pink Missha eyeshadow (yoke choo didn't like pink either and didn't want to give it to her sister), Kose brand toner (free sample from yoke choo since she works under Kose's cosmetic brand, Fasio).

No wonder my mum keeps asking me if i splurged all my money... lol... she thought the papaya seed oil Body Butter was edible because of its fragrance... she fears it will attract ants... lol... am now broke.

Bored.

Am posting coz i'm bored... laptop is now defragging... hopefully after defrag less laggy. Since there were no viruses or spyware or adware after all the scanning... my diagnosis was that my hard drive was too crammed... so... hv to defrag it for now. Can't play music or any audio coz of the lag while defragging. Strictly speaking i'm supposed to actually leave it alone while it does its work... but i guess i can use the internet since it doesn't actually utilise the hard-drive much... right?

Doing abit of reading since there's nth much to do.

Shakespeare Sonnet 2

Who will believe my verse in time to come,
If it were fill'd with your most high deserts?
Though yet, heaven knows, it is but as a tomb
Which hides your life and shows not half your parts.
If I could write the beauty of your eyes
And in fresh numbers number all your graces,
The age to come would say 'This poet lies:
Such heavenly touches ne'er touch'd earthly faces.'
So should my papers yellow'd with their age
Be scorn'd like old men of less truth than tongue,
And your true rights be term'd a poet's rage
And stretched metre of an antique song:
But were some child of yours alive that time,
You should live twice; in it and in my rhyme.
Summarised and modernised version for better understanding:
Who will believe my poem in the far future
If it was written full of praise about your beauty.
Even though heaven knows
That it will not even tell us about half of all you are.
If I could describe the beauty of your eyes
And list everything good about you,
In future there will be readers who say: "The poem is not true
Because such heavenly beauty has never existed"
In the far future
Readers will laugh at my poem
And your true beauty will be known as a writer's exaggeration
That is stretched far from the truth
But if you have a child that lives in this age and time,
Then your beauty will live twice more after your death.
In the child, and in my poem.
Shakespeare Sonnet 55

Not marble, nor the gilded monuments
Of princes, shall outlive this powerful rhyme;
But you shall shine more bright in these contents
Than unswept stone besmear'd with sluttish time.
When wasteful war shall statues overturn,
And broils root out the work of masonry,
Nor Mars his sword nor war's quick fire shall burn
The living record of your memory.
'Gainst death and all-oblivious enmity
Shall you pace forth; your praise shall still find room
Even in the eyes of all posterity
That wear this world out to the ending doom.
So, till the judgment that yourself arise,
You live in this, and dwell in lover's eyes.
Modernised version:
Not even stone or golden statues of princes
Can outlive this poem of mine
But you shall shine more brightly in my poem
Than stone which will become dirty and unswept in time
When wars overturn statues
And tree roots destroy stones
Even the God of War, his sword nor the fire of wars
Shall destroy this poem, which is the living record of your memory.
Against death and all other enemies,
You will live on, this poem will still exist
In the eyes of all the people
Who live until the end of the world
So until judgement day,
You will continue living in this poem, and every lover's eyes.
Is it strange for someone like me to be reading these 400 yr old love poems? haha... Mrs Poretti's literature lessons have kinda affected me a little... but i do think Shakespeare's Sonnets are darn right cool...(even if historians claim that he's gay) especially since what they say come true... about the poem surviving after death and wars... and in it the lover's beauty remains.
Might sound cheesy, but if someone were to write a sonnet to me... i'd totally fall for it... unless it was sent in email... this sort of stuff works better hand-written right... Unfortunately this form of romance is almost entirely extinct in modern times... haha... super mushy rite?
Had fun translating this poems into understandable english... i go bath now... Shakespeare has put me in a gd mood.... heheh!

I think...

certain ppl are just not worth bothering with... dat's why i spend so much time on the laptop... which btw seems to be slowing down T.T oh no~~~~ warranty has expired... if it dies on me i shall die too... am scanning now...

wish i knew how to read tadpoles... then mayb i'd go b a music teacher or do sth related to music...

Updating whole of last wk heheh...

Mon:
slacked at hme... did nth.... watched abit of online shows... a movie named Flicka... not bad... about a girl and her friendship with a wild horse. Loved the cinematography, the view of the mountains with the horses is really gd...

Tues:
Jio-ed out by YT (haru)... went to IMM and looked at Ipods... she bought an 80gb silver one. $380 flew out of her pockets haha. The black rubber casing for the Ipod had us stumped. So hard to stick the Ipod into it...
Then slacked on the sofas at Subway until 5pm+ when Boon Mei (Baobei) arrived. Treated us to Cafe Cartel dinner... not worth it. Heard the pork ribs were superb but we decided to try the deep fried platter for 3 ppl... too oily, had a stomachache =( in the end she spent $50 on our dinner... Most disgusting Cafe Cartel food ever. Next time I'll try the famous Pork Ribs instead. Should be more worth the money.
Then went to Poh Heng Jewellery to look at gold... not for us of course... gals our age do NOT wear gold =.='''' YT bought a gold orchids pendant for her mum whereas Boon Mei bought a heart-shaped pendant for her mum too...

Wed:
YT went to Genting =( so she missed our little KTV world session. Met at Jurong b4 going to Taman Jurong Shopping Centre's KTV world. The KTV world there gave us 1 hr free of singing ^^ so we sang till midnite... haha... Some of the songs were REALLY REALLY SUPER LAME... but we chose them for a laugh... especially Baa Baa Black Sheep... rofl... as usual the drinks were HORRIBLE... if i were the boss i would hire some ppl who actually made decent drinks. Next time I will ONLY drink canned drinks or honey water... kind of hard to screw those drinks up...

Dat's about all the activities i did for this wk... haha... Last night there was a HUGE STORM...woke my mom and me up... the sky kept flashing and i kept bracing myself for sudden thunder... luckily there wasnt much thunder in the end... this morning woke up, looked out of my living room window, and saw this:

Somehow the wind totally cleaved the signboard into a beautiful half haha... my mum said somewhere some trees fell down too...

Something exciting this way comes: who wanna catch this movie with me?

5 things that DISGUST me

1) House lizards in bright light. I can see their innards if they're crawling over a light >_<

2) My bro when he demolishes an entire family-size block of chocolate and the chocolate is melting all over his fingers (bluurrrgh) Its also pretty disgusting when he finishes a 1 kg pack of raisins within hours... or something with similarly high sugar content. It just shows his unwillingness to share and his greed... i predict diabetes >_< 3) Stir-fried brinjal... They're slimy and sticky. I'm still OK with brinjal in Thai green curry and deep fried ones.

4) Lecherous old men sitting at kopitiams drinking beer and teasing women. The ones that stare at a girl openly are disgusting too...

5) The Japanese manga MPD Psycho... it's just... more psychotic than all of the CSI series combined...

Iron Man

^^ went to watch Iron Man ytd with YT, Sandy and hua-jie Kenny ytd... tickets were a little pricey but the movie was worth it!

Had my doubts when Kenny said the movie's main character was an "uncle", albeit a not bad looking uncle... heheh.

The character development was very very good... the director made the right choice by going for a more mature character rather than a hot-looking youngster... Robert Downey Jr. made a very believable Iron Man... his jokes were real funny and I could really relate to the scenes when he seemed to be in conflict with himself. I must say he looked really upset when his eyes went bloodshot and he looked like he was gonna cry.... AW...

The CGI was truly amazing. Unlike Transformers, which had a little too much CGI during the fight scenes and made me feel motion-sick after watching them transforming while rolling in mid-air, the CGI in Iron Man was just nice. Makes me really believe that Tony Starks was a true technological genius... with the exception of his pet robot of course... ^^

Love the constant humour throughout the movie... Tony Starks was so funny...

Shall not give out any spoilers coz the movie was great. Shall recommend it to everyone... plz go to the cinema to enjoy the full experience...
New fan of Robert Downey Jr, signing out.
