1st Day of Work

What's up So Far:

~ The person from the IT department is busy configuring other ppl's desktop and mine is halfway connected to the company's network
~ My supervisor's gone for 2 meetings so far and I'm currently the only person sitting in my department.
~ I can't even login to our company website
~ I have no idea how to use LotusNotes yet.
~ I finally hv access to the Internet..
~ I am NOT allowed to chat on MSN. But we shall see about dat... heheh >_< ~ I have been coerced into signing a confidentiality form... ~ One of my ex-classmate's is now my new colleague! Sabby from RP... sigh. at least she's nice, even though she hung out with certain ppl back then... bet 3/4 of my ex-classmates have received the gossips At least I can browse the Internet a little... saw something damn exciting... http://www.stepheniemeyer.com/twilight_movie.html

My current craze author has her 1st book made into a movie!!! It's already in post-production... yay. $37 million was spent on making it. So far, she's released 3 books out of 4 of her Twilight series. Hope the movie will be every bit as romantic, thrilling, witty and INTENSE as the books are... i already like the main actresses and actors acting in it... Hope they will portray the sexy Cullen family vampires properly!!!

The 4th and last book for the series will be coming out on the 4th Aug... maybe i will go queue for the book at Popular ^^ been a long time since i queued for a book release (Since book 7 of Harry Potter series, to be exact)

The Teaser Trailer of Twilight. Watch Edward.... his acting is INTENSE!!!!! I think he can portray Edward pretty well.... needs to be a little more inhuman in his movements, though. Still, eye-candy!!! >_<

Whole day out

Finally.... the good news.

Starting work next Monday, 21st July! Huzzah huzzah!!!

Woke up at 7.30am... been a long time since i did that.
Went for interview yesterday morning 10am at the MICA building... a much nicer and cosier looking workplace than all the other places I visited before. Naturally, being the office HQ for Singapore Arts Council, MOSAIC gallery, etc all the arts societies of Singapore, the place was more artfully designed than those dead looking company buildings that only sported grey, black, brown and white =.='''

The entrance still had the sign that said Hill Street Police Station, but i thought the old building suited my taste more... it made me feel less... out of place and younger... haha. Entering the place, i immediately saw a few art sculptures, and a filming crew shooting the statue. Their equipment were so much smaller and expensive looking than the kind that my school used to rent out to us for our projects.

Went to the 5th floor; the Ministry of Information, Communication and the Arts. Quite a mouthful, so it's shortened into MICA.

The interview room was a freaking huge conference room. The 2 women interviewing me immed. said: dun b intimidated... haha. Gave me the feeling that they weren't the zombie-type immediately. Wat a relief.

The interview went fine... then i recognised one of the women interviewing me. Should've known.

Saw her on TV b4. She told me she was ex-mediacorp. And she was gonna be my boss. Ah, well.

Could tell that they were the hyper type of ppl... yay. No zombies there.

So... passed the interview rather quickly. Must b bcoz I studied something similar to the company's job scope in poly. Who knew... poly experience actually came in useful... despite how lousy my sch was.

Then went to Causeway Point to watch Batman: The Dark Knight.
The movie was quite excellent.
But no comedy in there.
Was a little saddening too... The woman Bruce Wayne loved died.
The Joker and the Trickster appeared in the movie. Trickster died. Of course, Joker didn't, coz there'd be no arch-enemy if he did. But the actor who acted as the Joker is already dead... so...
From the way the movie ended, there's a possibility that there might not be another sequel made.
The coolest thing in the movie by far:

The humungous bat-bike. The bat-mobile broke down... then it ejected this bike... with 2 guns at the front... lol.

Then after the movie my bro and i went to the Recruit Agency at Raffles Place so that I could sign my final documents and get my time-sheet for the job. Went through a few final details...

  • $7/hr, 1.5x for OT hrs and Saturdays, 2x for Sundays and PH
  • Payroll processed by Recruit Express on the 15th and 30/31st mthly...
  • Certain rules...
  • Contract ends on 19th Dec, maybe then i can sign another contract or change to perm staff

Then miracles of miracles. My bro blanjah... We went to vivocity (coz we were bored and didn't know where else to go) Had a chocolate fondue at Haagen Daaz.. the price was staggering... considering the comparison with Andersens and Swensens... the bill came out as $51.60... But my brother has always been known to spend money on chocolates... so not such a huge surprise there, lol. My fav part of the fondue was the pieces of pound cake dipped in chocolate... Sigh... the rich taste of pound cake with chocolate was heaven.

Spotted a black bangle-watch with rhinestones. Something new on my wishlist.

kinda miss singing

Went KTV PartyWorld with Sea-shell n Mr.K on Wed evening... with 3 ppl finally the 3 of us had our share of singing time... haha! gd to sing without other ppl suddenly snatching up the mic and defacing ur fav song suddenly...

Went crazy on F.I.R songs... (just about the only chinese band i really like) am glad to say i didn't totally destroy the wonderful female lead's singing... couldn't hit some of the crazy whistle-register notes.. but at least i didn't shriek and fail loudly in the mic... sang abt 5 or 6 of F.I.R songs at one go... those high-pitch songs can really take the mickey out of anyone >_<

Most importantly, it made me miss my a-cappella singing back in poly... even though not all the songs were wonderful (Christmas carolling = 5 mths of crooning Santa Clause is coming to town). Had alot of fun and performances... even though we didn't earn much.

Recalled the time we had an acappella performance in a wedding church.... This crazy ang-moh couple wanted a simple wedding at a tiny tiny church... we all had only 3 wks to prepare the song to sing... sang Truly,Madly,Deeply gospel style sia. The whole thing was fun and even though we screwed up the song (thx Ronny) the couple were so happy they gave us an extra $300 angbao (which was divided amongst 20 ppl and disappeared into a tiny tiny amount).

Most of all the singing i miss... other than those crazy bunch of pals; PK n Rafie the jokers, Cindy n Beverly the ti-ko-girls(my mum was the one who nicknamed them), and the others.

Maybe shld sing more often... realised that my singing range has really gone down the drain... Angie'd kill me if she heard my singing now... notes that were much easier are now so much harder to hit... my medium range suffered the most... sigh... can't believe i actually thought of going professional. Mum would've probably murdered me if i ever suggested it anyway. Not easy to start an acappella group in Singapore too.

I'd need:
~to be able to read tadpoles (my piano experience is limited to playing Mary had a Little Lamb)
~a good vocal percussionist
~a good leader
~a good bass singer who has a proper sense of rhythm
~a good band name
~someone to sponsor and endorse us... and to sign us up as an official group under The Singapore Acappella Society

I'd probably end up becoming manager cum member... hv to organise everything... I'd die of exhaustion. Best keep singing as a hobby ^^ that way can enjoy and dun hv to meet nasty ppl

Update....

Been told to update my bloggie... hahas. hvn't blogged for a pretty long time.

Been up to nth much. Slacking at home and job-hunting. Watching movies online and reading my beloved books.

Went to the stupid infamous Recruit Agency yesterday. Applied for a temp/contract bank position, then that Veron said that she had other positions and asked me if i was interested... then she would send the company my resume....
Whole lot of help sia. Like i dunno how to use email... wat kind of agency is this. Ever since yesterday call me 4 times asking me whether i was interested in this job, that job, blah blah blahs.

Also went to IMM ytd with Ba0-bei... she called after i got home from the stinking so-called "interview" and then asked me if i wanted to go out... Went to IMM and had an Andersen's Ice-Cream Fondue. the fondue was too sweet... and the fruits were sour. The strawberries sucked and the banana.... well, lets just say we had to ask the waitress to change the fruit. The 5 scoops of ice-cream that came with the fondue was not dat gd either.
Then we went to Daiso for some aimless browsing. Bought a double-pronged hairpin... can't believe they sell the pin for 2 bucks when places like Aries sold them for like 7-8 bucks. The pin was ok looking... white and pink beads... and this ugly furball on it... but hey. 2 bucks... i just had to pluck off the stupid furball rite?
Also bought a japanese-style bamboo blind. The Japanese use this as window-blinds... but Bao-bei and me definitely had a different usage for it... haha.

Ta-daa.
(added the pic finally)

realised that i hv a grand total of 33 pairs of earrings... excluding a few pairs that are missing its twin... my mum's gonna nag when she sees that my collection has increased yet again!
